September 2023
Fall is here in Vail Colorado! With changing temperatures, early morning frosts, bright blue skies, how excited are we to move with the colors of the leaves changing! It is still warm enough to do some yoga outdoors (after 10am!) It is an exhilarating feeling with the cold fresh air on your face, seeking the warmth from the sun and keeping moving! Vinyasa is the key to stay warm! Move your body consistently with the aid of the breath. Here in the mountains we like to use our legs, so revisit standing poses that generate warmth - Warrior 1 and Warrior 2, Utkatasana and Goddess pose. Work the thighs and help prepare for some turns on the mountain. Add some standing balances, but move between two or three poses- Tree to Warrior 3 to hand to extended leg and back again to help with dynamic balance. Finish with Lizard pose for hip flexors, Hanuman for hamstrings and Supta Virasana for the quadriceps. Don’t forget a Figure Four on your back and Happy Baby to open the hips. You are amazing and see you on the hill very soon!
